800m base training

i`m running the 800m this track and i`m looking to run sub 2 for the majority of my races and have a great indoor season. for the off season or winter months, i don’t do weight training or lift we primary just run, easy distances, and once the weather gets better we do some 200s 300s, and easy runs. what are some base training ideas for the 800m, developing that strength and speed? i really want to break 2 minutes, 50 and 4:30 this season, just need to have a better base training, what can i do?? produced a dozen sub 2 guys..1. get in the weightroom. start with 6-8 and build 2 a week. build a long run over the winter, 25% of weekly total. the biggest key to success is to have race variance during the season.




lastly, run fast 300’s in practice (my favorite distance to prep a 800 runner) in this thread could be something that youâ´re be looking for (speed training)/forum/flat_read.php?thread=7741636to run a 50.xx 400 you need some raw speed and weights. core is very important.if weight training isnâ´t possible, do body weight general strength, pistol squats, burpees, lunges etc.short hill sprints for effective spesific power training, more of the sprint training is in my thread above.you also lack endurance for the 800 and the mile. 1 day of repetitions varying the pace and the length of the repetitions. the anaerobic power can be reached in 3 weeks. i donâ´t think itâ´s a realistic for you to drop both the 400 and mile that much at the same time. upper body has to be strong to run sub 2.why? i’m genuinely curious what mechanism there is for a stronger upper body contributing to faster running. you clearly have the speed to run sub 2. gradually increasing mileage to maybe 60-65mpw and incorporating more tempos/threshold and anaerobic workouts with little rest can help you maintain the required pace for a little longer. weight training is also pretty important for mid-d guys.
